Greg Little Fantasy News

Monday, August 8, 2016, 12:44pm - [Full Article]

One of the more interesting contests is within the group vying for the third wide receiver spot behind locks Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods. On the eve of training camp, there wasn’t much buzz surrounding journeyman receiver Greg Little and while he is far from a sure thing to secure the No. 3 on the depth chart, he has opened some eyes during this first week at St. John Fisher.

“It’s training camp,” said Little. “The goal is to get better every day and that’s really my concentration right now. I just come out here and try to build on what I did the day before. Trying to put days on top of days.”

Fantasy Impact:

Little may owe some of his training camp success to an offseason partnership with Tyrod Taylor. The two worked together after minicamp and seemed to have built a level of chemistry as a result. One has to wonder if that chemistry can be an ‘X’ factor in helping Little differentiate himself from the stable of capable receivers gunning for playing time.

If the Browns now regret cutting receiver Greg Little, they can do something about it.

Little, claimed by the Raiders on waivers after he was cut by the Browns in May, has been released by Oakland. He’ll be exposed to the waivers process again, with all other teams getting a chance to claim his contract.

Olson: Rod Streater has 'gotten better every week'

Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 6:37pm - [Full Article]

On the topic of the Oakland WR corps...

Rod Streater has gotten better every week that he’s been here, just works hard and has gotten a little bigger as well,” Raiders OC Greg Olson said. “Greg Little has done a really nice job. I guess there were some questions about his work ethic, but I like the way he has come in and really attacked it. He’s been very consistent catching the ball every day.”

While the Raiders are rotating receivers right now, and Dennis Allen has shrugged off any talk of depth charts, observers say that James Jones, Streater and Andre Holmes are ahead of Denarius Moore, who started last year.

Fantasy Impact:

For an undrafted wideout, Streater’s career is moving along swimmingly. After a 39-584-3 rookie season, Streater posted a solid 60-888-4 in his second year, finishing as the #33 WR in fantasy. Among undrafted receivers, he has the 4th most yards (since 1980) in his first two seasons. (Even more impressive, he plays for the Raiders.) Streater could continue to progress provided he still sees starter’s snaps – the arrival of James Jones may be a roadblock – and Matt Schaub returns to the efficient form we’re used to seeing. There are a couple of conditions there, but Streater’s value is in the tank right now, so there is very little risk to picking him up as a WR5/WR6 if he continues to sit atop the Oakland depth chart.

Raiders claim Greg Little off of waivers

ESPN - [Full Article]

The Oakland Raiders claimed wide receiver Greg Little off waivers Monday.

An inconsistent player whose flashes of excellence were often overshadowed by crucial drops and off-field drama, Little was released by the Cleveland Browns on Friday.

Fantasy Impact:

Little won't have any fantasy value behind Rod Streater, James Jones, Denarius Moore and Andre Holmes on the Raiders' depth chart. Unfortunately for Little, his best opportunity to produce was in Cleveland.

Browns release Greg Little

Browns have released WR Greg Little.

Fantasy Impact:

This move is a bit surprising considering the state of the WR corps with Josh Gordon facing a half- or full-season suspension. We'll have to wait to see how the depth chart shakes out, but at this point, Andrew Hawkins looks like the team's most dependable option at receiver. Jordan Cameron is a threat to lead the team in catches.

Browns sign Nate Burleson to a one-year deal

Cleveland Browns - [Full Article]

The Browns have agreed to terms on a deal with WR Nate Burleson, the club announced.

Burleson, who spent the past four seasons in Detroit, will provide the Browns with some depth and an experienced veteran who can help mentor young receivers such as Josh Gordon. In 2011, he won the Lions' Good Guy Award from the local sportscasters and Pro Football Writers Association and was a leader in the locker room.

Fantasy Impact:

The Browns also signed Andrew Hawkins to man the slot, so Burleson is likely to be the team's WR4 assuming they find a starter in the draft. If not, he is capable of starting opposite Gordon, though he doesn't offer much playmaking ability at this point in his career. Greg Little's days in Cleveland look to be numbered.

The Cleveland Browns placed wide receiver Davone Bess on the reserve/non-football illness list and he will miss the final two games of the season, the team announced Saturday.

Fantasy Impact:

Bess missed practice Thursday and Friday while dealing with a "serious family issue," according to The Plain Dealer. He was listed as questionable on the Week 16 injury report, the story said. Josh Cooper will likely replace Bess in the slot. The Browns could also move around Greg Little and Josh Gordon more to compensate for Bess' absence.

Browns HC Rob Chudzinski on WR Greg Little: shoulder sprain, good chance he'll practice Tuesday.

Davone Bess starting ahead of Greg Little in Week 3

Browns HC Rob Chudzinski said Josh Gordon & Davone Bess will be starting WRs Sunday. Chud demoting Greg Little.

Fantasy Impact:

This move doesn't have big fantasy implications this week, but it's something to note as the Browns get Brandon Weeden back.

Browns name Brandon Weeden starter

Tuesday, August 20, 2013, 11:29am

FOX Sports - [Full Article]

Brandon Weeden has been named the Browns' starting quarterback.

Coach Rob Chudzinski announced his decision on Monday, ending weeks of speculation about whether Weeden would start the season opener against Miami on Sept. 8.

Chudzinski said Weeden has earned the job with a strong offseason, training camp and preseason. Weeden started 15 games as a rookie last year, but Chudzinski and the Browns' new coaching staff wanted to see improvement from the 29-year-old — and they have.

Fantasy Impact:

Weeden was pushed in camp by veteran Jason Campbell. Weeden started off strong last season but didn't finish on fire by any means - just five TD passes over the final eight games. There reason to be excited about his potential with young WRs like Greg Little and Josh Gordon, an up-and-coming TE in Jordan Cameron and a young RB in Trent Richardson. But even with all that we rank him 28th in what is just too deep of a QB class this year. He's worth a shot in deep leagues and could even start a game or two depending on matchups. He will play six games against tough division defenses like Cincy, Pittsburgh and Baltimore, however.

Josh Gordon showing immaturity at practice

Wednesday, July 31, 2013, 10:48pm

ESPN Cleveland - [Full Article]

Fans, media, and Browns front office personnel are watching WR Josh Gordon to see if he has learned from his impending two game suspension or if he will continue to make immature decisions.

On the field has never been the problem. He was dominant through the first few days of camp and is by far the most talented receiver on the roster.

However, on Monday, he was pulled from practice half way through for what coach Rob Chudzinski said was patellar tendonitis.

Injury or not, Gordon was also scolded during that same practice for not finishing plays or running after the catch. He is frequently the last receiver into position drills and has yet to work with Greg Little and Brandon Weeden after practice, despite the fact that Little and Weeden have worked on routes after every single session thus far.

Fantasy Impact:

There was a nine-game stretch from Week 5 to Week 14 where Gordon played like a fantasy WR2. He averaged 3.9-71-.56, which projects to #14 WR numbers. His speed is a good match for QB Brandon Weeden's big arm. The two game suspension puts a dent in his upside, as does his work ethic.
