Packers beat writer Rob Demovsky:
The Packers unveiled a new package last week that had rookie receiver Ty Montgomery in the backfield in place of a running back. Montgomery didn’t carry the ball but he did catch one pass coming out of that formation. Coach Mike McCarthy said it’s not a formation you can use extensively, “but it’s a good changeup.” And it could be a way to get Montgomery more touches after he caught the first four passes of his NFL career on Sunday against the Seahawks. In training camp, we saw Montgomery carry the ball out of that formation, so that’s an option as well.
