Mark Sanchez will be wearing familiar body armor for 2010. The Jets quarterback admitted Tuesday that he will have a brace over his surgically repaired left knee this season and "probably forever" after he got a scare during Saturday's preseason game at Carolina.
Sanchez, who had arthroscopic surgery in the offseason, practiced without a brace during training camp. He occasionally wore a knee sleeve, but Rex Ryan instructed his quarterback to wear the brace after a close call against the Panthers. Carolina defensive tackle Derek Landri nearly got to Sanchez's left knee after beating left guard Matt Slauson on an outside pass rush.
"(Sanchez) couldn't step up (because) the guy's helmet was there," Ryan said. "I was like, 'That's enough.' That's why he's putting it on."
