Geno Smith must show more to win QB job

The most scrutinized player in Jets camp will be QB Geno Smith, the former West Virginia star who slid into the second round. It'll be Smith versus Mark Sanchez in the Jets' first true quarterback competition since Sanchez versus Kellen Clemens in 2009 -- and that was rigged in Sanchez's favor.

This time, the politics will work against Sanchez. It's Smith's job to win. The organization wants a fresh face at quarterback, but Smith has a lot to prove after a lackluster performance in the OTAs and minicamp. He has the arm and the athleticism to electrify the offense, but can he lead?

Fantasy Impact: 

Sanchez is probably slightly favored to win the job, and the article says the team is toying with the idea of using Smith as a "change of pace QB," if in fact Sanchez does take it. But, Smith wasn't very productive when West Virginia called designed runs, which wasn't often. And, Smith considers himself a pocket passer, and reportedly gives the impression he wouldn't be thrilled in that role. Both QBs are way down our list and will likely stay there even when a starter is named. In standard leagues, these guys should probably stay free agents until we see a lot more...
