Draft note
by John Paulsen
The Dolphins drafted Waddle with the No. 6 overall pick in the Draft. Since 2010, the seven receivers drafted inside the top 10 who have played at least 13 games as rookies have averaged 61-915-6.9 on 113 targets, or high-end WR3-type numbers. When Tavon Austin (40-418-4 on 69 targets) is removed from the sample, the averages jump to 65-997-7.3 on 120 targets, or low-end WR2 numbers. Two other factors are working in Waddle’s favor: 1) he played with Tua Tagovailoa for two seasons at Alabama, and 2) Matt Harmon of Reception Perception found that Waddle was the best receiver in his class at beating man coverage. He wrote: “It’s difficult to remember a recent prospect who can so easily flip the field, control their speed and devastate with a stop/start-move all while doing the little things like Waddle does so effortlessly.”

MIA WR Jaylen Waddle - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Las Vegas Raiders

Jaylen Waddle had a solid game considering Miami's passing struggles. The rookie finished 6-48 on eight targets after finishing 4-61-1 in Week 1. It's been a decent start for Waddle, although he has a few things going against him in Week 3. The main thing is the expected return of Will Fuller. Fuller will undoubtedly take some looks away from Waddle, but we wouldn't expect it to impact him too much. Fuller is a player who will go long while Waddle focuses more on the shorter routes. Waddle will also be without college teammate Tua Tagovailoa this week as Jacoby Brissett starts, but the two looked fine with one another in Week 2. Still, Waddle isn't much more than a WR4 play in Week 3 vs. the Raiders.
