Squirrel’s Nuts & Bolts: Cowboys - Eagles MNF Showdown Strategy (Week 7 NFL DFS)

Week 7 of the NFL season wraps up with an NFC East Showdown between the Cowboys and the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff is 8:15 PM ET, and the Cowboys are favored by 4.5 points on the road, with the total set at 43.5 points.

The Eagles have lost four straight after a 2-0 start, and they rank 29th in the league at 17.7 points per game. With Jalen Hurts on injured reserve with blood clots, Tanner McKee makes his second straight start after completing 26 of 45 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown in the 25-14 loss to Carolina. DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) are out, and they combined for 18 of McKee’s 45 targets in that game. Rookie Makai Lemon has 18 catches for 127 yards this season, while Darius Cooper leads the team with four touchdown catches on just eight receptions. Saquon Barkley (hamstring) is questionable after sitting out against the Panthers, though he was a full participant in practice on Friday. Dameon Pierce ran 12 times for 35 yards and a touchdown in his place.

The Cowboys are also 2-4, and they’ve lost two straight after scoring 16 points against the Buccaneers and 13 at Green Bay. That’s a drop-off for an offense that scored 30-plus in three straight games before that and still ranks ninth at 25.2 points per game. Dak Prescott threw 54 passes for 258 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions against the Packers, and CeeDee Lamb drew 18 of those targets. Lamb’s 48 catches are tied for fourth in the league. Javonte Williams is tied for fourth with seven rushing touchdowns, but he’s averaging just 3.7 yards per carry. On the other side of the ball, Dallas ranks 25th at 26.5 points allowed per game, and its 899 rushing yards allowed are the fourth-most in the league in just six games.

This Showdown gives us a backup quarterback making his second start, an Eagles receiving corps without its top wide receiver, and a Cowboys run defense that has struggled all season. Let’s break down this Monday night NFC East rivalry Showdown, highlight the key plays, and uncover the strategies that could help you climb the leaderboards.
