Dead Weight Report: Week 11 Fantasy Football Drop List
With under a handful of games to go before the fake postseason, it’s imperative to trim the fantasy fat from our rosters in order to maximize weekly output. While sometimes we get emotional attachments to players or feel like we’ll experience some sort of FOMO after they’re dropped, we have to shake it off and realize it’s for the betterment of the squad.
Here is this week’s list of players who are possibly weighing down your respective rosters as we head down the stretch.
Editor's Note: Check out the Week 11 Waiver Wire Watch
Jordan Mason, RB - Vikings
I was so stoked for Jordan Mason this season. Things were lining up well for him to be a solid later-round RB option, and 85% of Yahoo managers are still riding with the Minnesota back. Since Aaron Jones’ return in Week 8, Mason has been out-touched 30 to 21, with Jones seeing almost all of the passing work (12 targets to 3). I get wanting to hang on, but even when Jones was sidelined, Mason was mostly touchdown dependent.
Hunter Henry, TE
Hunter Henry had an awful game last week in Tampa Bay, posting just one reception for nine yards on four targets. He hasn’t had a double-digit half-PPR output since Week 5, with just one touchdown in that span. He can’t be trusted at this point with the fantasy postseason on the line.
Josh Downs, WR - Colts
The Colts WR hasn't topped 57 receiving yards yet this season and has only been in the fantasy mix thanks to three straight touchdown performances in consecutive weeks. Well, that scoring streak came to an end in Week 10 for Josh Downs against Atlanta as he posted a brutal 1-3-0 line on just two measly targets.
The Colts have a bye this week, and then face the Chiefs and Houston, who both sit in the top 3 in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) to WRs this season. With all the mouths to feed in Indy, plus the rough schedule and bye, let Downs go for someone less touchdown dependent.
T.J. Hockenson, TE - Viking
Last week against the Ravens, J.J. McCarthy threw 42 passes, and only two went in the direction of T.J. Hockenson. Despite playing in all nine contests thus far, Hockenson is the TE24 in half-PPE scoring and the TE30 on a per-game basis, posting just 5.7 a tilt. I know the position isn’t pretty, but neither are the Minnesota TE’s chances of emerging as a starter.
Kyler Murray, QB - Cardinals
He’s on the IR, so the earliest Kyler Murray can be back is Week 14. He may not even get his job back, but if he does take the field, there are better options out there for your fantasy playoffs than the current QB22 in fantasy points per contest.
More Droppable Players: Christian Kirk, Darnell Mooney, Mason Taylor, Chuba Hubbard, Geno Smith
