Perfect Fantasy Football Draft: 10th in a 10-Team Yahoo Half-PPR League

Drawing the 10th pick in a 10-team league can feel like a gut punch. You look at the long list of players you will have no access to (Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Saquon Barkley, Bijan Robinson, etc.) and wonder how your roster will compete. But don’t fear! Drafting at the Round 1/2 turn can set up your roster with a major statistical advantage in Yahoo leagues.

Think of it like this. Would you rather have the 10th and 11th pick or the 1st and 20th? If you had a guarantee that the player you pick first overall would be the top fantasy asset, you might pick the latter. How often does that happen, however? Rarely. Just ask Christian McCaffrey's managers about that experience in 2024.

The major disadvantage to drafting at the turns, of course, is the long wait between picks and the risk of a whole run passing you by. But by playing things smart, you can be at the front end of runs and take advantage of other players who have dropped because of a positional run.

In this article, I will walk through my favorite players in each round that should be available to me based on Yahoo ADP and discuss my overall draft strategy from this spot.

My Plan of Attack When Drafting 10th in a 10-Team Half-PPR League

Roster Settings: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX (WR/RB/TE), 1 Kicker, 1 DEF, seven bench spots

The first and second round picks when selecting last in a 10-team league will have heavy implications on how we build out our roster for the rest of the draft. I typically like to go wide receiver and running back in this scenario, but if a player falls to my pick and forces me to go WR/WR or RB/RB, I am certainly not panicking.

No matter what route is taken, there will be excellent players available at running back and wide receiver at the 10th and 11th picks.

Though you have to wait quite a while for our third and fourth selections, you will be back-to-back in every round, and you won’t have to worry too much about targets being snatched away from us after we make our initial pick on each turn.
