Perfect Draft: 12th in a 12-Team ESPN PPR League

Drafting at the number 12 spot in a 12-team league can be something of a mixed blessing. Sure, you're likely going to miss out on the true studs, as there is no chance that Justin Jefferson is sliding to you down there. But, with back-to-back picks, you get a chance to move the draft forward by potentially starting a run at a position, creating a market value for yourself further down the line.

My plan here is to show you how to dominate your draft on ESPN platforms should you find yourself blessed—and you should count yourself blessed—with this position in the draft order.

In this article, I will walk through my favorite players in each round that should be available to me based on ESPN ADP and discuss my overall draft strategy from this draft spot.

My Plan of Attack

Roster Settings: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (WR/RB/TE), 1 Kicker, 1 DEF, six bench spots

  • Attack wide receivers early - I'm not committing to a full-on Zero RB approach right out of the gate. But still, I would like at least three wide receivers on the roster before I consider adding my first running back
  • Look for pass-catching running backs - In a PPR format, between-the-tackle grinders still have their place. But I'm not sure their place is going to be on my roster. I want to focus on backs with a role on their teams as a pass-catcher, even if they are not necessarily the primary ball carrier.
  • Wait on the "onesies" - You'll find no bigger lover of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce than me. But I'm not going to force the issue at quarterback and tight end by taking them too early. There is, as always, a fair few players at the tight end spot with breakout potential this season. I'm happy to wait for one.
