2021 Rankings Breakdown: Quarterbacks

“So who’s the next Josh Allen?”

That’s the question that I’ve been playfully and repeatedly asking my co-worker/friend T.J. Hernandez since the end of the 2020 season, well after his declaration last July that Allen could be the next Lamar Jackson. T.J.’s article convinced me to rank Allen higher than I normally would have, and I eventually rode Allen to my FFPC Main Event league championship. Allen finished as the No. 1 overall quarterback, while his backup on my Main Event team, 2020 late-round target Ryan Tannehill, finished No. 7. So while we’re trying to find the middle-round pick who can turn into the next Josh Allen, we might as well be looking for the late-round pick who can turn into the next Ryan Tannehill while we’re at it.

Note: Just because Josh Allen made a huge leap in 2020 doesn’t mean that another quarterback will make a similar leap in 2021. It doesn’t hurt to look though.

Now that our initial projections have been released, it’s time to go position-by-position and discuss each fantasy position as a whole. I’ll also discuss why a few specific players are ranked where they are (relative to Underdog’s best ball ADP). I’ll go over the quarterbacks in this article, and discuss the running back, receiver and tight end positions in upcoming articles.
