NFL Preseason DFS Week 4 Breakdown

Week 4 of the preseason is most closely associated with Week 1 of the preseason. There will be virtually no starters on the field and in some cases, many teams won't even put their second unit on the field. It's crucially important to pay attention to players who have been cut and also where position battles are shaping up on the back end of the depth chart. We'll also be targeting quarterback situations where a quarterback is going to get the bulk of the game. With all 32 NFL teams playing at the same time, it's important to not spread your player pool too thin, thinking you have to cover all your bases. The below recommendations are my favorite plays for this slate, but if you have a player in mind that you think can have success on Thursday, by all means, slot him in.

Quarterback

Ryan Griffin, Buccaneers

Griffin has been one of the best preseason quarterback options the last three weeks, mainly due to Bruce Arians pass-happy scheme. Jameis Winston obviously isn't going to play in this game and Blaine Gabbert hasn't practiced. That leaves only Griffin to play in this game. I can't imagine him not being the top quarterback on the site as far as projections go if he's taking every single snap. He's currently at 650 passing yards through three games and has real potential to hit the 300-point DraftKings bonus if he plays the entire game.

Jarrett Stidham, Patriots

Stidham has the second-highest passer rating in the preseason and could potentially see more than three quarters in this game. Tom Brady obviously isn't suiting up and the Patriots have had Brian Hoyer on the roster long enough to know what he's capable of doing. Though he's only thrown two touchdowns to this point, Stidham's 8.2 yards per attempt ranks second-best among quarterbacks in the preseason. The Patriots have had a few goalline touchdown rushes in the preseason. Hopefully, the script can flip a bit and Stidham will get some positive touchdown regression.

Chad Kelly, Colts

They call him Swag for a reason. He plays with a ton of confidence, both throwing and running the football. Kelly has a top-10 preseason passer rating and is top five in passing yards. Andrew Luck has left the building and Jacoby Brissett won't suit up as the heir apparent. That leaves Chad Kelly and Philip Walker to take all the reps. Though Kelly may play a bit less than some of our other targets, he can do serious damage in just two quarters.
