Sneaky Starts: Week 4
All but the luckiest fantasy owners at some point need to find the proverbial diamond in the rough -- a waiver wire or bench player who is capable of putting up some points in a pinch. This weekly feature is dedicated to that part of fantasy football. It's not pretty, but it's part of the game.
In Week 3, our Sneaky Starts included Andy Dalton (QB16), Joique Bell (RB4), Giovani Bernard (RB10), Bilal Powell (RB11), Bernard Pierce (RB14), Danny Woodhead (RB29), Pierre Thomas (RB34), Denarius Moore (WR6) and Jordan Reed (TE16).
At 4for4, we use Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) by position heavily in our rankings and analyses. For more detail, click here.
Note: These recommendations do not override our weekly rankings, which are updated throughout the week and weekend.
Chargers QB Philip Rivers (vs. DAL)
Rivers is averaging 266 yards and 2.0 TD through three weeks and this week he is at home against the Cowboys, who have struggled against the pass (#29 in QB aFPA).
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (@ MIN)
Big Ben has faced three pretty stingy defenses (TEN, CIN & CHI) and has averaged 282 yards and 1.3 TDs. This week, he faces a Vikings defense that gave up 321 yards and 3 TDs to Brian Hoyer and the Browns.
