Viking WR Justin Jefferson (hamstring) not likely to play on MNF

Even if Justin Jefferson is not likely to play Monday night, as The Athletic’s Dianna Russini has reported, it’s worth considering how he’ll steady the Vikings offense when he returns.

“We’re going to weigh the options correctly, making sure that I’m feeling well and prepared to play a game,” Jefferson said this week. “And if I’m feeling good, I will play.”

Fantasy Impact:

The Vikings and Jefferson deployed a long-term approach with his hamstring strain from the outset of his injury, and as we all know by now he doesn't care about our fantasy teams. He and the team are prioritizing his health above all other factors. Jefferson is expected to return soon, though, and it seems like the plan all along as been to come back after the team's Week 13 bye. He is officially questionable for Monday night’s matchup at U.S. Bank Stadium against the Chicago Bears. The Vikings sit at 6-5.

The Vikings are listing WR Justin Jefferson (hamstring) as questionable for Monday’s game against the Bears.

Fantasy Impact:

The Vikings have done so for the last three weeks now but have yet to activate Jefferson from injured reserve. The deadline for Minnesota to do so is Wednesday. The question is whether the Vikings will activate him this weekend to play Monday or wait until Tuesday or Wednesday. The Vikings have their bye in Week 13, so the Vikings can choose to sit Jefferson one more game and give him two more weeks of rest before playing in Week 14.

Justin Jefferson said his hamstring recovery is going well and that he has reached top speeds during practice. He wasn’t ready to say if he thinks he can play Monday night tho. “If I’m feeling good, I will play,” he said. More to come.

Justin Jefferson is not expected to play on Monday Night Football in Week 12 against the Bears because of his hamstring, per a team source. The Vikings are not going to push their best player to get back on the field despite the fact that they are in the playoff hunt. This all makes sense as it will give the receiver two more weeks of rest from game action, thanks to the Vikings being on their bye in Week 13.
