Browns OC: No plans to make Duke Johnson featured runner

Browns OC Kirby Wilson said the team currently has no plans to make Duke Johnson their featured runner and also mentioned that No. 1 RB Isaiah Crowell's "efficiency has been sporadic for a number of reasons."

Fantasy Impact: 

Crowell leads the team in carries (46) and yards (134), but Johnson leads the team in rushing touchdowns (2) and has also caught 20 of his 28 targets for 207 yards. Johnson also has an advantage in the yards per carry department: 5.7 to Crowell's 2.91. Johnson has found a role in the passing game, and with the Browns WR depth chart lacking a true playmaker, it makes sense for the team to keep him in that role. We have Johnson ranked as our No. 20 RB in PPR leagues this week in what is a fantastic matchup versus the Jets according to our aFPA metrics.

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson on running back Isaiah Crowell: "I believe in Isaiah Crowell. No question. I have to get this guy the ball handed to him."

Fantasy Impact: 

Crowell promised a "monster year" heading into the 2017 season, but it's been more of a nightmare than anything. He's averaging 33.5 rushing yards and 12.5 receiving yards per game through the first four weeks of the season. He has yet to score a touchdown.

Crowell was considered a trendy pick in fantasy leagues this year, but he currently sits as the fantasy RB44 with 20.40 fantasy points. To highlight how brutal Crowell's performance has been so far, J.D. McKissic of the Seahawks scored 18.50 points in his first game last week.

If Crowell were ever to breakout of his slump it would be this week against a New York Jets rush defense allowing 143.8 yards per game. We have Crowell ranked as our No. 24 standard RB in a fantastic matchup.

Browns RB Isaiah Crowell (shoulder) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week. He was removed from the injury report, so he’ll play against Cincinnati.
