Cardinals are making a RB move. Source says they are signing Patriots RB DJ Foster off NE’s practice squad.

Related players: David Johnson, Andre Ellington, Kerwynn Williams.

Fantasy Impact: 

This very well could mean Johnson is headed to IR with his dislocated wrist. Foster has seen time at both WR and RB but will need to learn the system. Williams still seems like the best choice for Johnson owners who need to make a pickup, but this could be shaping up to be more of a committee.

Cardinals: Bruce Arians says RB David Johnson is seeking a second opinion. Prognosis is a dislocated wrist.

Rapoport: Arians tells reporters David Johnson’s initial prognosis is the same as TJ Logan… who is out 12 weeks.

Schefter: Bruce Arians said Cardinals will consider resigning RB Chris Johnson.

Caplan: Game changer for Cardinals if he does go on IR. Kerywnn Williams actually did well in 2014 with Cards for 3 game heavy workload.

Fantasy Impact: 

If the Cardinals do sign Chris Johnson, this will likely turn into a committee with Williams and Johnson vying for carries and Ellington handling David Johnson's duties in the passing game. From a clarity standpoint, it's not easy to pick one to target in waivers, though at this point Williams probably has the most value in standard formats while Ellington is an intriguing pickup in PPR leagues.

Report: Sprained wrist for Cards RB David Johnson

The preliminary diagnosis for Cards RB David Johnson is a sprained wrist, sources say. No break. MRI Monday.

Fantasy Impact: 

Rapoport added that Johnson did fumble on the next play, which may or may not have been a result of the injury. We likely won't get an official timetable from the team until after Monday's MRI. However Chris Mortensen of ESPN said Johnson will sit out as little as few weeks, or worst case, half the season or more. The good news is he avoided a fracture, but it does appear, based on Mort's report, that owners will possibly be without Johnson at least for Week 2.

The Cardinals lost their opener. They now have to worry whether they’ll lose their best player, for a while.

The good news is that X-rays on running back David Johnson’s wrist were negative. Bad news (perhaps) is that he’ll have an MRI on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: 

As the story said, plenty of potentially problematic injuries will not show up on an X-ray, but will show up on an MRI. So the Cardinals will have to worry about whether Johnson has the kind of injury that may cause missed time - and the same goes for fantasy owners. Williams looks to be a guy to pick up if Johnson is going to miss action.
