Perfect Fantasy Football Draft: 1st in a 10-Team Yahoo Half-PPR League

Picking from the very beginning of 10-team, 2026 Yahoo fantasy football leagues gives you the option of locking down one of the consensus RB1 or RB2 across all scoring formats. Right off the bat, you’ll have an incredibly strong start to that room, and it fits the 10-team mantra of attempting to aim for elite options at as many positions as possible, because nearly everyone will have at least a “solid” roster.

Though you are —barring injury— guaranteed to have an absolute stud anchoring your team, most of the other teams will already have a draft strategy rolling before it comes back to your 20th overall pick. Regardless, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of having a bona fide elite option you can depend on week after week.

In this article, I walk through my favorite likely available targets each round based on Yahoo ADP via 4for4’s Multi-Site ADP tool, with a discussion on strategy from this spot.

My Plan When Drafting 1st in a 10-Team League

Roster Settings: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX (WR/RB/TE), 1 Kicker, 1 DEF, seven bench spots

In 10-team leagues, I want to chase difference-makers more aggressively because every roster will have playable depth.
Starting with Bijan gives us an easy Anchor RB foundation, but the smaller league size means we don’t have to panic if we double-tap running back early.
If we start RB/RB, the 3/4/5 range needs to be heavy on wide receivers who can command targets or deliver spike weeks.
Tight end and quarterback are both more worth attacking in shallow leagues because a true positional edge matters more than stockpiling replacement-level depth.
Late-round picks should be ceiling bets, injury-away backs, or young receivers, not low-upside veterans who will never crack a 10-team lineup.
The lack of extraneous rules (full PPR, points per first down, TE premium, etc.) in default Yahoo settings allows us the ability to attack Best Player Available (BPA) at a much easier clip.
We will be ignoring defense and kickers until the final two rounds (15 & 16) every single time.
