New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr is retiring, the team announced Saturday.
The team said that Carr had a labral tear and degenerative rotator cuff damage to his right throwing shoulder.
Related Players: Tyler Shough, Spencer Rattler
It has long been expected that Carr could have problems getting on the field in 2025, but those problems clearly ran deeper. Shough and Rattler will battle it out for the QB1 role, and it's looking like a safe bet that Shough will handle a vast majority of the starts this season.

Panthers placed RB Jonathon Brooks on the physically unable to perform list, meaning he now will be out for the 2025 season.
Related Players: Chuba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle, Trevor Etienne
With the additions of Dowdle and Etienne (fourth round), this was a distinct possibility, and now the move has been made quite early in the post-Draft season. Brooks will be a tough gamble for 2026, but here's hoping for a full recovery for the young back.

The Eagles and TE Dallas Goedert have agreed to a reworked deal for this season, as Jeff McLane stated. The team had trade offers for Goedert during the draft. He was in the loop. Decided to remain with the team and selflessly restructured to try running it back.
Related Players: Grant Calcaterra, Kylen Granson, Harrison Bryant
As Garafolo touches on, it seemed like a draft-day trade was very much on the table, but once the smoke cleared, it seemed obvious that the vet would remain on the team for at least one more year. Philadelphia currently has seven tight ends on the roster, so expect to see a lot of those names drop off throughout the summer. Goedert should once again be considered a touchdown-dependent low-end TE1 on a great offense.
