Vikings impressed with Jerick McKinnon

Jerick McKinnon is resigned to the fact that Matt Asiata will continue to be Minnesota's short-yardage back. Asiata ran for three TDs on Sunday for the second time this season and third time since last December.

McKinnon, though, will remain the starter. Vikings coach Mike Zimmer had nothing but praise Monday for his rookie runner and was excited to hear he's striving for more consistency.

"I've been extremely impressed with him, with everything,'' Zimmer said. "His pass protection is getting better. He got beat once yesterday, but he's doing some great things running the football. I think Jerick has a very bright future in everything that he's doing. I'm glad that his expectations are always high. That makes me happy."

Fantasy Impact:

McKinnon is still looking for his first TD, but appears to have taken over as the guy who will get a majority of carries with Asiata the short yardage guy. The TDs should come, but the whole RB situation could become muddied if Adrian Peterson does return to the team. So far it's only been speculation, but it's something that would disrupt the current RB situation.
