Titans' Scaife wants to be complete TE

As TE Bo Scaife heads into the 2009 season, of course he wants to have another big year catching the football, but a big point of emphasis will be blocking.

"I'm not a bad blocker by any means, but I want to be a good blocker, a real good one,'' Scaife said. "I don't want to ever be substituted for because I'd be a weakness for the offense. That's how I look at it. I want to be dependable in every area.''

Scaife caught 58 passes for 561 yards and 2 TDs last season. In 4 seasons he's racked up 1,625 receiving yards on 170 catches as a favorite target for QBs Kerry Collins and Vince Young. He'd like to make RBs Chris Johnson and Lendale White just as happy.

TEs coach John Zernhelt pointed out that the 6-foot-3, 249-pound Scaife doesn't have the bulk of the 2 other primary tight ends on the roster — Alge Crumpler (6-2, 262) and Craig Stevens (6-3, 255) — but makes up for it with quickness and good technique at the line of scrimmage.
