SOURCE: Plaxico Burress to be released from prison

A person who has visited Burress at the Oneida Correctional Facility in Rome said Burress is expected to be released within "two or three weeks," his two-year sentence reduced for good behavior.

The development of the Giants' young receiving corps was one of the highlights of the 2009 season but that doesn't mean that the Giants wouldn't be interesting in bringing Burress back. A source close to the teams says the Giants will "investigate" the possibility of bringing him back.

It's suspected Burress will get out under a work-release program. It's unclear when he might be eligible to return to the NFL, as he most certainly faces disciplinary action by Commissioner Roger Goodell for shooting himself in the leg with an unregistered gun in 2008.

Fantasy Impact:

The Giants are reportedly "showing some interest", but a lot has to happen for Plaxico Burress to get on the field in 2010. For one he would have to be cleared by the commissioner, and then he would have to make a roster. Burress could come back into the league with a suspension similar to that of Michael Vick's last season, but there are no indications as to what type of shape Burress is in after spending last season in prison.
