Raiders cut Matt Flynn

Matt Flynn, the quarterback acquired by the Raiders in a trade with the Seahawks this offseason, has been released, according to Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated.

Although the Raiders traded for Flynn with the expectation that he would be their starter this season, he was beaten out in training camp and the preseason by Terrelle Pryor. When Pryor missed a game this season with a concussion, Flynn played so badly that he was demoted from second to third on the depth chart after Pryor returned. And now Flynn isn’t on the Raiders’ depth chart at all.

Fantasy Impact:

The Raiders also cut fifth-round draft pick Tyler Wilson before the start of the season. Former Penn State QB Matt McGloin is now the Raiders QB2 behind Prior. McGloin was impressive enough in the offseason that this also likely played into the decision to release Flynn. Look for the Raiders to sign a free agent QB at some point. The story mentions Green Bay could be a landing spot for Flynn.
