Fox: 'I think Kevin White's leg is healed'

Bears coach John Fox said on Monday the team will elevate Kevin White to the active roster if the rookie first-round pick can get in football shape prior to the Dec. 15 deadline.

“I think his leg is healed,” Fox said.

White -- the No. 7 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft -- has been on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list since undergoing surgery in August to repair a stress fracture in his left shin. White initially returned to practice on Nov. 24, and he spent last week participating in individual drills for the first time since the offseason program.

“Now it’s a matter of getting into football shape,” Fox said. “We’ll evaluate that deal. We have medical people that deal with him every day. And we’ll continue to bring the football play element back into it. If he’s cleared to play football, he’ll be out there. If not, he won’t."

Fantasy Impact:

White worked out pregame at Soldier Field on Sunday, running routes full-speed and catching passes from practice squad quarterback Justin Worley, the story said. The Bears are desperate for help at wide receiver. With Eddie Royal (knee) and Marquess Wilson (foot) inactive for Week 13’s overtime loss to San Francisco, Bears wideouts managed to make only seven combined receptions. While it may make sense to just shut him down the rest of the season, it could also be important to get him game action before the end of the year. He would be an interesting, but risky, fantasy pickup for this season.
