Damien Harris (hand) sidelined at practice

According to ESPN, New England Patriots running back Damien Harris is dealing with a hand issue that could affect his availability for Week 1. Harris has missed the Patriots last two practices with the injury.

Fantasy Impact:

This is a crushing blow for a running back who appeared set to open the season splitting the early down carries with incumbent starter Sony Michel. Harris had been highly impressive in camp prior to his injury, and even prompted head coach Bill Belichick to say this about the sophomore: “..I think everybody had a lot of confidence in him, but they've all gained a lot more in him just because of his consistency and dependability.". The injury resulted in the team activating Lamar Miller from the PUP list, and could throw a wrench in the plans the team had for Harris if he cannot make it back for Week 1. What has become clear is that the Patriots are ready to see what Harris can give them on Sunday’s. Running backs coach Ivan Fears added: "From what we've seen, and the training camp he's had, I tell you what, he's pretty exciting.". Harris should still get an opportunity to carve out a meaningful role this season, when that chance will come however, is now up in the air.
