49ers WR Crabtree drawing praise

The 49ers opened training camp Sunday. And while you hate to build up the hype, you can definitely say this:

Michael Crabtree had a much better first day of practice than he did a year ago.

Of course, he wasn't even in Santa Clara a year ago. Crabtree was a contract holdout after being picked in the first round. He didn't sign until early October. His whereabouts were a mystery.

But now it can be told. In early August 2009, Crabtree was in Florida at an athletic facility, trying his best to mimic the training-camp atmosphere.

"I had the playbook, because I had been here for the rookie minicamp," Crabtree remembered Sunday. "One of the veterans had slipped me the training-camp schedule, so I was doing my best to match it, working out two times a day starting at 7 a.m."

Fantasy Impact:

Crabtree is just outside the top-20 in 4for4 WR rankings and has an ADP of the 5th round. He's going to go pretty quick this year, his ADP is actually better than 5 guys ahead of him in the rankings.
