2026 FFPC Late-Round Quarterback Targets
The late-round quarterback strategy was popularized by JJ Zachariason in the early 2010s, but this year, more than ever, it might be a viable strategy.
I think it is especially viable in high-stakes fantasy football leagues on FFPC. I'll be ripping a few $2,200 Main Event Drafts in the coming weeks and fully plan to take at least 1 of these guys in every draft. The Main Event has a $1M grand prize this year, which should make this a great sweat. If you haven't played there yet, get $25 on us!

2026 FFPC Late Round Quarterback Targets
I'll consider a late-round quarterback for these purposes: any QB not going in the top-12 or top-100 picks, and there are three that really stand out to me.
Bo Nix (QB15, 124th overall)
I tweeted this out yesterday, and I really don't understand it. Is it the ankle?
What if I told you last year’s QB7 is currently being drafted as the QB15 …despite no massive departures AND adding a new WR1 in the offseason?
Seems like a good player to draft— Connor Allen (@ConnorAllenNFL) August 23, 2026
Everything else is lining up for a big season for Bo after they maintained a strong OL, added a playmaker in Jaylen Waddle, and Pat Bryant looks to have taken another step forward this offseason.
Bo Nix has reportedly been a full go since training camp kicked off in late July, making it unlikely the ankle is an issue for the season. If you opt not to take a top-tier quarterback, I love the idea of stacking flex positions and snagging Bo Nix later.
Kyler Murray (QB17, 131st overall)
Any reasonably talented quarterback to play under Kevin O'Connell has been above average for fantasy purposes.
2022
- Kirk Cousins: 17.15 PPG, QB13 (17 starts)
2023
- Kirk Cousins: 18.72 PPG, QB8 of 36 before the Achilles (8 starts)
- Nick Mullens: 15.85 PPG in 4 starts
- Joshua Dobbs: 15.22 PPG in his 5 Minnesota starts
2024
- Sam Darnold: 18.12 PPG, QB10 of 41 (17 starts)
2025
- J.J. McCarthy: 13.01 PPG, QB31 of 37 (9 starts)
- Carson Wentz: 14.07 in 5 starts
I think Murray is much closer to Cousins and Darnold here in terms of talent than the latter, but the key here is Murray's rushing ability. None of the QBs listed above really added much with their legs. This not only adds a higher floor but also unlocks a ceiling that none of these players have. I'm not saying we should be expecting or even hoping for a top-5 season from Murray, but he is squarely in play to be a fringe top-10 option.
Daniel Jones (QB22, 165th overall)
Jones is shaping up to be a massive value if he stays healthy. Prior to his fibula injury, Daniel Jones was averaging 19.27 points per game in the first 10 weeks of the season. That was the QB7 last year in terms of points per game. He then went on to tear his Achilles in Week 14, which put him out for the rest of the season. His recovery has reportedly been going really well, and he has been practicing in full at training camp. ESPN's Ben Solak mentioned you wouldn't have known he had an injury just by watching training camp.
He lost Michael Pittman Jr. in the offseason, but they signed Alec Pierce to a sizable contract and expect him to play a big role on the outside as more than just a stretch, boom-or-bust type of player. They also signed Keenan Allen, who showed he still had plenty of juice last season. At full health, I think the receiving corps could legitimately function as well as or better than what we saw last year.
At QB22, there isn't a whole lot of risk here, and the upside is a top-10 fantasy QB.
