Fantasy Football Defense Streaming Week 6: Our First Multi-Week Streamer Option

We’ve all been there. You’re sitting in your draft, and someone reaches for a defense way too early. Defenses are notoriously tricky to project year-over-year. Some of the best fantasy defenses of the last decade have turned in performances where they benefited from turnover luck one year and ran dry the next. When drafting, I treat the D/ST spot on my roster as a revolving door, and I’m specifically drafting for Week 1 or the first few weeks of the season.

As we work our way through the season, this article will serve as a place to identify streaming options. The only criterion is that the teams we discuss are rostered in less than 40% of leagues on Yahoo or ESPN.

Week 5 Recap

In Week 5, we went with Washington, Detroit, and Houston. We picked on Chicago and Justin Fields made us pay. Most of the thought process there was to get a few sacks and hope for a pick or two. They did get to Fields three times, but letting up 40 points is suboptimal, to put it lightly. Detroit dropped seven points, picking off Bryce Young two times. The Texans got a couple of fumble recoveries but that was about it. When the dust settled, the Commanders scored in the negatives against Chicago. That brings our streaming options down to D/ST18 on the season.
