9 Fantasy Football Stash Candidates Ahead of Week 6
Five weeks into the season, our stash list is becoming less about guessing which preseason sleeper might eventually get a chance and more about identifying roles that are changing right in front of us.
Injuries have opened several depth charts, struggling veterans are beginning to lose work, and a few young players are earning enough opportunities to make their coaching staffs reconsider the pecking order. We're still trying to beat the waiver-wire rush, but some of these situations could develop quickly.

Germie Bernard, WR - Steelers (2%)
Germie Bernard has gone from a rotational rookie to one of the easiest stash calls of the week.
Bernard ran a route on 78.8% of Pittsburgh's dropbacks in Week 5, a massive jump from his 45.1% season-long rate. He turned that opportunity into eight targets, six catches, and 80 yards while being targeted on 31% of his routes and producing 3.08 yards per route run.
The sudden playing time isn't difficult to explain. Michael Pittman is already on injured reserve, Roman Wilson suffered a dislocated finger that could cost him multiple games, and even Ben Skowronek exited Week 5 with a calf injury. Nathan Jahnke noted that Bernard essentially became an every-down receiver and should have a starting role for at least the next few weeks. Notes 10_12_26
Maybe Wilson eventually returns and complicates things. At 2% rostered, we don't need to wait around to find out how Pittsburgh handles it.
