Perfect Draft: 12th in a 12-Team Yahoo! Half-PPR League

I've written about picking 12th in a 12-team league, and the challenges you face trying to construct your roster when you land this particular spot. That was focused on ESPN and in full PPR. But what kind of squad can you put together if you're drafting on Yahoo!, where the scoring is based on half-PPR? What could your team look like then? Well, I am here to help show you.

My plan here is to show you how to dominate your draft on Yahoo! platforms should you find yourself picking at this spot in your draft over the next few days.

In this article, I will walk through my favorite players in each round that should be available to me based on Yahoo ADP and discuss my overall draft strategy from this draft spot.

My Plan of Attack

Roster Settings: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (WR/RB/TE), 1 Kicker, 1 DEF, five bench spots

  • Grab a running back in the first round, and maybe double up based on ADPs - There is a good chance that, with the half-point per reception element, workhorse backs without a dominant role in the passing game, will go earlier than in other drafts. Picking at the turn, I will look to see if I can grab at least one of these players, but I won't be afraid to take two.
  • Shoot for upside at the receiver spots - Committing to a robust RB-type strategy will see me miss out on the truly elite wide receivers. I will make sure then that any pass catchers I target have strong weekly, as well as seasonal, upside.
  • Wait on Defense and Kicker - I will not be taking any of these players in the first 10 rounds. I implore you to do the same. They can wait.
