Quarterback Streaming Week 15

It’s playoff time, and congrats to the fantasy managers still fighting for a championship. But we’ve still got a couple of weeks before we can celebrate. Every roster decision becomes critical, and we need big performances from all our players. Luckily, we’ve got a few options on the waiver wire at quarterback to boost our hopes of closing out the season successfully.

Not bad for the final week of the regular season. Tyler Huntley left the game with a concussion in the third quarter, but the passing game struggled before his departure. As I anticipated, his rushing would have saved his day, but a passing touchdown would’ve been nice.

Brock Purdy was the story of the day. With touchdowns on the ground and through the air, Kyle Shanahan continues to set up his passers for success. Purdy has an oblique injury, but he spoke to the media after the game to provide details. His early-week status bears watching, but let’s talk more about the former Mr. Irrelevant and his Week 15 outlook.

Top Streaming Pick

Brock Purdy (49ers) @ Seattle

Given his matchup against Tampa (18.6 aFPA, 23rd), I had my doubts about Brock Purdy. We’ve seen Todd Bowles put together difficult game plans for inexperienced passers. I assumed the seventh-round rookie would freeze like a deer in headlights under pressure, but he thrived under it.

Purdy didn’t take a sack while the game was still competitive. He was nearly perfect as a passer when blitzed, or Tampa sent five or more rushers. McCaffrey’s receiving touchdown is an excellent example, but Purdy did it earlier in the game on his scamper into the end zone. It was an impressive debut, and his legend should continue to grow in Week 15.

Seattle (15.0 aFPA, 12th) has decided to employ a “tackling-optional” defensive scheme against their opponents. It’s risky and, surprisingly, doesn’t appear to be effective. The Seahawks have given up the third-most yards per game over the last three weeks. As a result, John Wolford is the only quarterback without a touchdown pass since Week 9.

Deebo Samuel’s (likely) absence is a concern, but the offense still averaged 39.3 yards per drive without him on the field. In a much better matchup, despite being on the road, Purdy has the best combination of floor and ceiling potential for a streaming option in Week 15.
