2022 Pittsburgh Steelers Fantasy Football Preview
Only Tom Brady (40.2) and Justin Herbert (39.5) averaged more pass attempts per game than Ben Roethlisberger (39.1) over the past two years as the Steelers simply succumbed to the veteran’s wishes to throw 600-plus ducks at the NFL’s quickest time from snap to throw in both seasons. It’s a far cry from what OC Matt Canada displayed without being chained to Big Ben in the preseason, registering a league-high amount of pre-snap motion (142 snaps) with the eighth-highest rate of play-action and third-most 15-plus yard gains through the air. Mitch Trubisky has only tossed eight in-game passes over the last 18 months but, in averaging 3.7 carries across 52 career starts, offers a higher floor than perceived for an offense that’s expected to camouflage its play-calling in 2022; only eight attacks in the last decade have attempted 600-plus passes for three consecutive seasons, qualifying Pittsburgh’s as one that’s bound to revert.
