Connor Allen: 4 Week 9 Player Props I'm Betting

As the legalization of sports betting continues to explode, more and more people are diving into a new way of speculating on sports. For those just starting off, I broke down some of the basics in my gambling 101 piece. Among every category of bets, player props remain the most beatable in the long run. Last year, I hit 59% of my bets for +35 units on the season. The two years prior were much of the same, hitting 57% and 58%, respectively, of my player props for profitable seasons. I have improved every year and think that trend will continue with new tools. I’ve already fired off a handful of bets for Week 9 and will be adding more here. Week 8 Recap: I can’t even lie, in terms of my record, this was by far the worst week of my prop betting career. I went 6-10 on props with multiple heartbreaking losses. The crazy part is we wound up +3.75 units on the week. We were able to cash a ticket for Elijah Mitchell 37/1 to lead all players in rushing yards on Sunday. It was a glorious win that was spurred by our friend Dalton Kates who pointed out we had Mitchell projected for the second-most rushing yards on the slate yet he was listed at 37/1 on FanDuel. That was too good to pass up and those who tailed were handsomely rewarded. Before that hit, I was digging my own grave, though. Davis Mills had 90 passing yards entering the fourth quarter, but then he transformed into Ryan Fitzpatrick before our very eyes, somehow finishing with 310 passing yards and busting our under. Mike White, a 2018 fifth-round pick making his first career start against a top-10 Bengals defense, passed for 400+ yards and led the league in passing last week. Of course, right? Jalen Hurts and the Eagles have transformed their offense into a run-heavy powerhouse despite trotting out a combination of Kenneth Gainwell, Boston Scott and Jordan Howard. This led to just 14 pass attempts from Hurts as the Eagles dominated the hapless Lions. Anyways, it was a weird Week 8 and I’m happy to move on from it and onto Week 9…
