IDP Waiver Wire: Week 7 Pickups and Matchup Plays
Week 7 will be a tough one to navigate. We have four teams on byes, and another injury to a top IDP. Joe Schobert suffered a hamstring injury that could cause him to miss several weeks. Keep an eye on the Cleveland situation over the next few days, and I offer my thoughts below, as well. We have four teams on bye this week - Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Oakland and Seattle. So, we'll be without the services of guys like Bobby Wagner, Blake Martinez, Cameron Heyward, Frank Clark and Bradley McDougald - just to name a few. So, as we head into Week 7, here are the names to look for on your waiver wire and the matchups I like for the week.
Week 7 IDP Waiver Wire
Defensive Back
Terrell Edmunds, SS, Pittsburgh Steelers (61 snaps/100 percent)
Edmunds will be worth picking up ahead of the Steelers' Week 7 bye. Edmunds is playing roughly 51 percent of his snaps near the LOS. He's been manning the slot and playing in the box. Over the last three weeks, he has two games of 12 or more fantasy points and has recorded 20 tackles.
Mike Mitchell, SS, Indianapolis Colts (54 snaps/76 percent)
Mitchell made his season debut - thanks to injuries to, well, just about everybody in the secondary. He ended up appearing in 76 percent of the snaps and recorded six tackles - resulting in an 11.1 percent tackle rate. If Clayton Geathers and Mathias Farley are out for any extended period of time, Mitchell could have IDP value. He did line up near the line of scrimmage on 52 percent of his snaps.
DJ Swearinger, SS, Washington Redskins (60 snaps/100-percent)
Swearinger seems to be emerging as the safety to own in Washington. Over the last two weeks, he's notched 12 tackles and has three games of 11 or more fantasy points. He's been on the field for 100 percent of the snaps and the Redskins defense is averaging 62 snaps - resulting in fantasy opportunities.
