IDP Waiver Wire: Week 6 Pickups and Matchup Plays

A big injury rocked the IDP world last week when JJ Watt suffered a season-ending tibial plateau fracture. Watt has now missed 24 games over the last two seasons. Watt is one of the elite defensive players in the league; however, he wasn't putting up JJ Watt numbers, so he might be easier to replace this season compared to past seasons. He only had 15 tackles, 0 sacks, and just two games of double-digit fantasy points. This injury, as cruel as it sounds, might be doing you a favor. Make sure to look at my previous waiver wire suggestions for more possible Watt replacements. Below you will find this week's waiver wire adds. Once we get through this week's waiver wire recommendations, I'll analyze my Week 6 rankings to see which matchups stand out at each position.

Week 6 teams on bye: Buffalo, Cincinnati, Dallas, Seattle

Week 6 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups

Defensive Line

Frank Clark, DE, Seattle Seahawks (57 snaps/77%)

Clark is going to get more usage with news breaking on Cliff Avril's serious neck injury. Clark recorded 1 sack and 2 tackles for loss in Week 5. He is now behind only Michael Bennett for the team lead in sacks. As long as he's getting 75%–80% of the snaps, he's worth adding in most formats as a DE2.

Elvis Dumervil, DE, San Francisco 49ers (22 snaps/29%)

Dumervil has been a pleasant surprise on the line for San Francisco. He leads the team in sacks and has consecutive games producing a sack, and has recorded 5 total QB hits. His usage on defense and lack of tackles makes him a target in big-play scoring formats only if you need depth.

Vinny Curry, DE, Philadelphia Eagles (34 snaps/57%)

Curry logged 34 snaps and along with a sack, notched 4 solo tackles and 1 QB hit. It was his first sack of the year; he's also produced 5 total QB hits this season. He's part of an aggressive defensive line that loves to pin its ears back, so target Curry in big-play scoring formats.

Myles Garrett, DE, Cleveland Browns (19 snaps/36%)

The first overall pick of the 2017 draft made his regular season debut last week, and he made quite the impression. In just 19 snaps, Garrett registered 2 sacks and 2 QB hits against the Jets. It appears he came out of the game unscathed so I project his snaps will increase from here.
