Streaming Tight Ends: Week 15 Targets
In case you are new to tight end streaming, the idea is to identify a waiver wire tight end with a favorable matchup likely to post TE1 caliber fantasy points. The foundation for the matchup research is 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) metric. As the season progresses and more data is available, aFPA gets more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Volume and efficiency metrics are also considered when searching the waivers for tight end streamers.
Week 14 fell victim to the injury bug again, with Charles Clay leaving early in the Bills game. Richard Rodgers followed up his biggest game of the year with his lowest usage of the season, while Austin Seferian-Jenkins struggled in Tampa Bay’s sputtering offense, despite leading the team in targets.
After 14 games, streaming picks are averaging 8.7 PPR fantasy points per game, while optimal plays have posted an average of 13.3 PPR points per week, which equates to the TE8 on the season.
Streaming candidates must be available in at least 40% of Yahoo leagues, in order to ensure that the picks are readily available in most leagues. As always, be sure to consider 4for4’s weekly rankings in case a highly ranked player is still available in your league.
Here are the top streaming options for Week 15:
Zach Ertz vs. Arizona
Over the past six games, Jordan Matthews is the only Eagles pass catcher with more targets than Zach Ertz, who is coming off of his most productive fantasy game of the season. Ertz gets a chance to continue that momentum this week against a Cardinals defense that ranks 22nd in aFPA to tight ends, giving up 14.9 schedule adjusted PPR points per game to the position.
With a projected game total at 50.5, this is expected to be the highest scoring game of Week 15. The spread is relatively close, so scoring should be abundant on both sides of the ball, as well, and Ertz is available in 50 percent of Yahoo leagues.
