Decimated by injuries at wide receiver, the San Francisco 49ers welcomed former Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots starter Mohamed Sanu to town earlier this season. After just three games and one catch with the Niners, however, Sanu is back on the street, with San Francisco releasing him Tuesday now that some of its other wideouts are off the injury report.
The story thinks Sanu could get picked up sooner than later, perhaps by the Colts, Titans or Raiders as the story pointed out.
WR Mohamed Sanu will make his 49ers debut Sunday against the New York Jets, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. Sanue's signing was made official Friday after WR Richie James was placed on IR.
Sanu will see snaps for the receiver-needy 49ers. San Francisco lacked veteran depth to complement the younger receivers, and Sanu brings that and proven success from his time with the Bengals and Falcons. Sanu is not a play this week, but we should have a better idea of his role after Sunday.
