Christian Watson returns to game after suffering broken rib

Wes Hodkiewicz

Oct 30 · 8:43 AM EDT

Packers WR Christian Watson suffered a broken rib Thursday against Carolina and underwent hospital testing that showed no internal bleeding. He returned during the third quarter and finished with eight catches for 113 yards in Green Bay’s 27-19 victory.

Related Players: Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, Bo Melton, J. Michael Sturdivant, Tucker Kraft, Jordan Love, Josh Jacobs

Fantasy Impact:

In one of the most WWE-coded turn of events, Watson was reportedly watching the game from a doctor's phone before returning and immediately getting targeted in double-coverage and hitting the ground hard. The story is incredible, but managers will need to watch his practice participation before Green Bay’s next game. He remains a strong fantasy starter when available for his normal workload. If the rib injury costs him time, Matthew Golden would have WR1 upside through additional targets, while Savion Williams would become a stronger FLEX option. Tucker Kraft would also benefit from fewer competing targets.

Matthew Golden trending toward playing Thursday night

Ian Rapoport

Oct 29 · 10:09 AM EDT

Packers WR Matthew Golden, listed as questionable with shoulder and foot injuries, is trending toward playing against the Panthers on Thursday night, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.

Fantasy Impact:

Golden would be a WR2 option if active for his usual workload, with managers able to confirm his status before tonight’s kickoff. His availability would give Jordan Love another reliable target against Carolina’s depleted secondary. If Golden sits, Christian Watson would have stronger WR1 upside and Savion Williams would become a more appealing deeper-league FLEX. Tucker Kraft remains a strong TE1 either way.

Packers WR Matthew Golden questionable for Thursday night

Wes Hodkiewicz

Oct 28 · 5:18 PM EDT

Matthew Golden is questionable against Carolina with shoulder and foot injuries. Green Bay upgraded him to an estimated limited participant Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact:

Golden would remain a WR2 option if active for his normal workload, with his status settled before Thursday’s kickoff. If he sits, Watson would have stronger WR1 upside and Williams would become a deeper-league FLEX option. Kraft remains a strong TE1, with both Golden’s uncertainty and the coaching staff’s desire for more involvement supporting his opportunity.

Josh Jacobs activated, will play Week 7 vs. Lions

Adam Schefter

Oct 24 · 4:37 PM EDT

The Packers activated RB Josh Jacobs and he will play Sunday against the Lions.

Fantasy Impact:

Jacobs was removed from the Commissioner's Exempt List before Week 6. Jacobs has reportedly looked "great" in practice, which should be great news as the Packers need all the help they can get in the run game. How much of a workload Jacobs gets in his first game remains to be seen, but he's easily a top-20 running back this week.
