Scouting report

GB WR Jayden Reed - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Minnesota Vikings

After missing last week, Jayden Reed is expected back this week which will be a big help for Jordan Love. Reed, unfortunately, won't be joined by Christian Watson this week, who is currently doubtful to play. Reed has benefitted from Watson's continued absence as he seems to get the carries that Watson usually sees when he's in.

The easiest way to attack the Vikings' blitzing scheme is through wide receivers as they rank 15th in aFPA against the position. It's a tough matchup regardless, but the receivers are in the best position to exceed projections in this matchup. Reed is borderline WR2/3 this week, and with no Watson he should be started confidently.

GB WR Jayden Reed - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jayden Reed looks to have the WR1 role in Green Bay -- assuming Christian Watson is out again -- and while he had 10 targets and 4 carries last week, he was only able to turn his 14 opportunities into 65 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Reed was seeing a lot of low aDOT targets en route to 8 catches for 27 yards and ideally would be used more creatively this week against Tampa Bay.

The Bucs rank 30th aFPA against wide receivers this year and have given up big games to just about every one of late. With that in mind and Reed's expanding target share in Watson's absence, Reed is a borderline WR2 with a safe floor from his combined rushing attempts and targets with the ceiling for more against a porous secondary.

GB WR Jayden Reed - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at New York Giants

When Christian Watson is healthy, he's the clear WR1 on the Packers, but when he's banged up it looks like Reed could take over that role as he did in the past getting deeper targets and rushing attempts. With Watson looking unlikely to play, that puts Reed in a more advantageous position for fantasy managers. With Watson seeing another big game last week, Reed was relegated to 4 catches for 16 yards and an aDOT of just 4.6 yards.

Combine Watson's potential absence with an easy matchup against the Giants (25th aFPA against wide receivers) and a few rushing attempts and you get Reed in a great spot this week. Reed is a back-end WR2 this week who you should feel confident starting.

GB WR Jayden Reed - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Packers continue to find ways to keep Jayden Reed involved in the offense as he led the team in targets against the Lions and also had 2 carries for 16 yards. While he wasn't productive through the air, with just 4 catches for 34 yards and a touchdown, he still provides enough of a floor to be usable every week.

While it will be a tough matchup against Kansas City, the Chiefs rank 5th aFPA against wide receivers, his rushing floor allows him to stay in the mix as a WR3 this week. Reed ran his highest percentage of snaps of the season last week and assuming he sticks around the 80% mark (79% last week) he'll definitely remain viable as a WR3.

GB WR Jayden Reed - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Detroit Lions

Jayden Reed has seen has role expand over the last three weeks. He ran just 45% of the routes in Week 9 and was up to 77% last week. While Reed didn't have a huge receiving day with just 46 scoreless yards on 4 receptions, he led the Packers in rushing with 46 yards and a touchdown. Reed seems to have taken over the gadget role that Christian Watson saw a lot of success in last year. Reed's aDOT was just 5.6 yards against the Chargers.

While Reed's role continues to expand and the coaching staff finds more creative ways to use him, the volume just isn't there yet. Reed is WR40 in our 4for4 rankings which puts him on the border of a WR3 and flex play. Given the positive matchup and the built-in floor with a few rushing attempts, I'd feel comfortable starting him as a WR3 this week.

GB WR Jayden Reed - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Jayden Reed continues to see the fewest snaps out of the main three receivers, but he leads the Packers in receiving yards and big plays. He caught all 5 of his targets for 84 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers and moves on to a much easier matchup in Week 11 against the Chargers.

The Chargers rank 27th aFPA against wide receivers and have given up quite a few big plays this season. Reed is a borderline WR3 this week and, at worst, a flex option in a great matchup. The volume isn't going to be there and his aDOT was down to 11.0 last week, but the ability to break a big play adds some ceiling that other options you could flex might be lacking, the great matchup is just the cherry on top.

GB WR Jayden Reed - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Pittsburgh Steelers

Jayden Reed had another slow week and unfortunately saw his snap share hit it's lowest percentage of the season. Reed (45%) saw fewer snaps than Dontayvion Wicks (48%) for the first time all season against the Rams. It's definitely something to monitor moving forward. Weirdly, Reed had the highest targets per route run last week of the top three receivers, but the emergence of Wicks is certainly going to hamper all three.

The Steelers are 29th aFPA against the wide receiver position, but it's tough to take a chance on any of the Packers receivers at the moment. While Reed is on the flex radar, with the loss of snaps and the ball being spread around so much I'd look in another direction.
