Jalen Guyton receiving bulk of first-team reps

2019 UDFA WR Jalen Guyton is playing the bulk of first-team reps with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register. His role has been as the third wideout, or speed guy according to Mazano. "He now might be the frontrunner with Williams’ injury, but Tyron Johnson and Darius Jennings have pushed him in practices," wrote Manzano.

Fantasy Impact: 

There are a lot of question marks among the Chargers' wide receiver corps with the injury to Mike Williams and the overall lack of depth. Rookies Joe Reed and K.J. Hill have yet to get first team reps, but are looking and have draft capital attached to them. Guyton and the rest of the group (minus Keenan Allen) are nothing more than waiver wire watches at this point.

Anthony Lynn said Mike Williams will be "out for a while" with his shoulder injury. Doesn't know if he will be ready for the start of the season.

Fantasy Impact: 

It's a big blow to the Chargers offense, potentially losing their W2. Reported timelines are saying 2-4 weeks. The good news is the Chargers had some guys stepping up at WR recently that we highlighted in the news this week - mainly Jennings, Hill and Reed. Although not a speedster, Hill seemed to have the edge for the WR3 spot before Williams injury.

Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams went for tests after coming down hard on his right shoulder during Sunday’s practice and he’s reportedly set to miss time as a result of the injury.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Williams is considered week-to-week after being evaluated by doctors and diagnosed as a sprain. It’s unclear at this point if he’ll be cleared in time to face the Bengals in Cincinnati in Week 1.

Fantasy Impact: 

Williams posted career bests with 49 catches and 1,001 yards during the 2019 season. He's expected to start opposite Allen with the real battle for the team's WR3 role. Hill has the edge, according to reports from Sunday, but the team is looking for more speed at that position, which more favors Jennings and Reed.

Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams didn’t make it through Sunday’s practice and he’ll be spending time with doctors as a result.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Williams is headed for tests on his shoulder.

Fantasy Impact: 

Williams went down on his right arm while trying to make a catch in Sunday’s practice and left the field after going down. Rapoport adds that Williams’ collarbone was not injured and that the team is optimistic that he avoided a serious injury. Any absence will increase the opportunities for Jennings, Reed and Hill to see time with Keenan Allen at wideout. We just had a story earlier Sunday about the rest of the Charger WRs who are looking to earn the WR3 job this season. With Williams out, it could be an opportunity for multiple WRs to step up.
