The Vikings are placing starting RB Aaron Jones on Injured Reserve, knocking him out four games. He has a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact:

Mason becomes RB1 and Akers is signing to the practice squad, the report went on to say. Scott and Chandler are also on the roster, but the Vikings seem to like Akers so he could be elevated sooner than later. The bigger news here is Mason should see a much bigger workload with Jones out of action.

Saints cut RB Cam Akers

The New Orleans Saints released veteran running back Cam Akers, the Saints announced Monday.

Fantasy Impact:

This news is really about who is still remaining to possibly claim the RB2 spot behind Kamara. Miller and veteran Edwards-Helaire still remain as does the rookie Neal, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury this summer. Miller is just 23-years-old while CEH is 26, and it's looking like it could be one of the two with Neal likely behind. The RB2 will also steal some carries as well, so this is a situation to monitor if you own, or plan to own, Kamara on your fantasy roster.

Kellen Moore says that Saints rookie RB Devin Neal will miss “a couple weeks” with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact:

Neal was hoping to earn the team's RB2 role behind Kamara, but missing that much time likely will cost him that job for now. Miller looks to be the favorite, but he'll need to fend off some familiar names in Akers and CEH.

We haven't seen specifics yet, but this could be as little of a role as a camp body. This has no effect on Kamara's workload and would make him an even easier grab if his ADP somehow drops further because of this.
