FoxSports: Bucs QB Jeff Garcia, who pulled the same right calf
muscle this week that he injured in training camp, plans to try to
start. How far he can go is up to him. And apparently coach Jon
Gruden will give him some leeway. If Garcia can't go, Luke Mccown,
who was rather sharp in practices Wednesday and Thursday, would be
the guy, not Brian Griese, whose throwing elbow continues to
bother him. This game has huge NFC playoff significance because if
the Bucs win, they virtually assure themselves a playoff spot. The
Bucs thoroughly confused Falcons QB Matt Ryan in the first meeting
of the season, but Ryan is much better right now. However, the
Falcons will want to run, especially with Tampa Bay's defensive
tackles, Jovan Haye and Chris Hovan, hurting. In fact, Garcia,
Haye and Hovan plan to take the first bus to the Georgia Dome
today in order to test themselves prior to the game. The Bucs
allowed 301 yards rushing to the Panthers, missing at least a
dozen tackles among the front seven defenders.
