Minneapolis Star Tribune: QB Gus Frerotte suffered a low back
bruise in the Vikings' 20-16 victory over the Lions today at Ford
Field, according to Vikings coach Brad Childress. Childress
refused to speculate if Frerotte might miss additional time and
Frerotte declined to speak to reporters. Frerotte was hurt making
a tackle late in the first half after throwing an interception and
was taken from the sideline to the locker room on a cart. Tarvaris Jackson entered the game in the 2nd half as the Vikings rallied
from a 6-3 halftime deficit. Jackson, who was benched as the
Vikings starter after the team's 0-2 start, completed eight of 10
passes for 105 yards with a touchdown, no interceptions and an
impressive passer rating of 143.8. Childress said Frerotte is
"very sore right now so we're trying to settle him down and make
him comfortable." Childress also praised Jackson for his
performance. "I can't say enough about Tarvaris coming into the
game and how he played," Childress said.
