Torrey Smith got his first NFL start when the Ravens sat veteran Lee Evans because of an ongoing ankle injury. After each of Smith’s touchdowns, Lee Evans could be seen on the sideline congratulating the young receiver.

“I was happy for Torrey,” Evans said. “He’s put in a lot of hard work. He’s been practicing hard and putting in the work, so he deserved it.”

It seems likely that Smith will get another start Sunday in M&T Bank Stadium against the New York Jets. The Ravens have a bye in Week 5, which means that if Evans sits out the Jets game, he should be close to 100 percent for their Oct. 16 game against Houston.

“Hopefully,” he said. “That’s what we haven’t done. But it would certainly make me feel a lot better than I have. Obviously, with one week off, I feel a lot better.”

Fantasy Impact:

We like Smith as a waiver wire pickup, but the Jets are tough to throw on, so we'd be surprised if he has another good game in Week 4.
