“I dropped it,” Packers WR James Jones said. “I care about it. It’s over, we won, I dropped it.”

Luckily for Jones, the Packers were able to score a touchdown in the third quarter to reach 21 points and then get a game-saving interception from cornerback Tramon Williams with 33 seconds left. Had the Eagles scored on their final possession, Jones’ drop would have been the difference in the game.

“In fairness to James, he clearly had the obvious opportunity right there before the half to put it to 21,” coach Mike McCarthy said. “But he has a thumb he’s dealing with. So he’ll fight through it. He’s a warrior. He takes great care of his body, but he’ll be the first one to tell you he needs to make that catch.”

Drops have become more than a rare occurrence for Jones, whose play recently was summed up with a beautiful scoop of a Rodgers low pass for a 9-yard touchdown on one play and the dropped bomb on another. Jones dropped a sure long gain against the New York Giants two weeks ago and sure touchdowns against the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys before that.
