Brett Favre struggled to put his shirt and socks on Wednesday morning because of the pain in his right shoulder. One can only wonder what will happen Thursday when he tries to throw a football.

Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier is hoping the quarterback can do limited work in practice even though he suffered a sprained sternoclavicular joint four days ago against Buffalo and has not attempted to throw since.

Favre was held out of Wednesday's practice so Thursday's session will begin the process of determining whether he can play in his NFL-record 298th consecutive regular-season game or whether Tarvaris Jackson will make his first start since the 2008 season.

"I would think by Friday I would have a pretty good grasp just based on that being two days from now, how it feels today vs. this past Sunday," Favre said when asked about a potential decision. "I would say we're going every two days. I don't expect to do much in practice this week, unlike the foot where I did come back and practice. I think this is something that really needs time. So I think I'll have a pretty good idea on Friday where it's going."
