Fantasy Football Buy Low, Sell High Week 7: Trade Targets Sell Matthew Stafford
Last week’s report card was mostly good news. Tyler Shough, my top buy at quarterback, bounced back with three touchdown passes and finished as the QB2. Caleb Williams returned from injury and finished as the QB13, and Jalen Coker drew 13 targets in his return, finishing as the WR20. On the sell side, Davante Adams managed just 6.9 points as the WR51. Then there’s Bhayshul Tuten. I told you his lack of a receiving role capped his ceiling, and he responded by catching two touchdown passes, finishing as the RB3. If Tuten maintains even close to that level of receiving work, I’ll be a buyer, not a seller.
Each week this season, I’ll be here to highlight the most notable players to Buy Low or Sell High, using and referencing the powerful tools and data on 4for4.com, including the Trade Evaluator. Don’t make a deal in your league without consulting this tool. Fantasy football managers are a fickle bunch. Sometimes, it only takes one week’s results to make us change how we value a player.
As thrilling as trading can be in fantasy leagues, it can also be really challenging. It’s the one aspect of the game that varies wildly from league to league. Drafting, setting lineups, submitting waiver picks. These are all pretty standard, but not trading. It is dependent on league settings, roster requirements, available players, and even the attitudes of your competitors. That means everything you’re about to read will need to be translated by you to fit your league settings. Do your best to adjust the advice to your own league and then join me for a weekly Discord chat for 4for4 subscribers, talking trades every Wednesday at 11:00 am EST.
As a baseline, this column will assume PPR scoring, passing touchdowns worth four points, and starting rosters with 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, and 1 FLEX, but you can adjust the configurations on the Trade Evaluator tool to fit your league exactly.
Sell High
Matthew Stafford, QB LAR
Stafford was one of the best stories of the 2025 season, finishing as the QB3 overall and averaging 20.6 fantasy points per game and earning the league's MVP Award. He’s been solid again this year, ranking as the QB11 with two top-six finishes, and the Rams have leaned on him heavily. He’s averaging 41.5 pass attempts per game.
The problem is who just left the lineup. Davante Adams suffered a ruptured hamstring and will miss the next 10 weeks. I told you to sell Adams last week, but that was about his fit next to Puka Nacua, not this. Adams has caught four of Stafford’s 11 touchdown passes this season, and his biggest games came when Stafford needed him most, with Nacua sidelined in Weeks 2 and 3. Stafford scored 27.0 and 20.9 points in those two games.
Nacua is back and fully capable of carrying a passing game, but the rest of the receiving corps is thin. Konata Mumpfield and Tutu Atwell have combined for fewer than 33 fantasy points this season. Stafford is also 38 years old, and his weekly floor has already shown cracks, with finishes of QB32 and QB27 in two of his six starts.
His trade value is 9.5, right alongside Tyler Shough (10.5). Shough just finished as the QB2, and I’d happily make that swap straight up.
