Whisenhunt cautious with RB Wells

Cardinals RB Beanie Wells, the Cardinals first-round pick, hasn't played in the preseason because of a sprained ankle. Coach Ken Whisenhunt said earlier this week that he hoped to get Wells in against the Chargers, but I wondered if he ultimately would risk it.

Wells aggravated the ankle injury Tuesday, and to me, he still didn't look smooth in pre-game warmups. He needs the work, obviously, but Whisenhunt is being cautious. The run game looked good tonight, with starter Tim Hightower averaging 4.7 yards on 9 carries.
