Wes Welker Is Making Strides

New England wide receiver Wes Welker is making strides as he recovers from knee surgery, but Welker says it's way too early to set a timetable for his return.

"It's gone as good as expected so far," Welker said. "Hopefully we stay on that track and keep on progressing every day."

Out in California, Welker has been catching passes from Tom Brady, and today was jogging and running short routes at a football camp.

Welker will stay in Massachusetts for the next month, with the Patriots beginning their organized team activities on Monday. A mandatory minicamp is scheduled in June.

"I'm going to be around here working and seeing the guys and watching the films and all the minicamps, critiquing guys and things we can do better, things that we can work on," Welker stated. "I'll be more of the veteran type guy, hanging out and rehabbing at the same time and doing all that stuff."

Fantasy Impact:

Expect plenty of stories between now and September on the status of Welker's knee. If he proves he's healthy by opening day his place in the fantasy football hierarchy will rise, but he's not the safe draft pick he's been in the past.
