With the Seahawks thin at running back on Sunday, they deployed receiver Rashid Shaheed in the backfield.
He got two carries for 33 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown run.
It wasn’t something the Seahawks cooked up this week, with Jadarian Price on injured reserve and Zach Charbonnet still not all the way back from a torn ACL suffered in January.
“We’ve had that in all [training] camp,” coach Mike Macdonald told reporters on Monday. “This isn’t a quote from [offensive coordinator Brian] Fleury, but felt like it was appropriate because of [Price] going down, he gave us some speed. That was cool.”

Fantasy Impact:
Now the question becomes will the team continue to give Shaheed carries. The Seahawks recently signed Mixon, and Charbonnet could be on his way back to the lineup sooner than later. Wilson proved last week he can work as the team's RB1. The 49ers have shown with Deebo Samuel that using your WR at RB can be a nice option for your offense, however many teams have tried to copy and it hasn't worked out. Shaheed has just seven catches for 73 yards and has three total carries this season. He's not necessarily safe for fantasy lineups until we see him get more touches, but this could be a way he gets more work.
