With Miles Sanders missing three weeks of camp due to a lower body injury, Paul Domowitch of The Philadelphia Inquirer says to "expect to see a liberal mix of Boston Scott and Corey Clement."

Miles Sanders is expected to be the lead back for the season, but Scott could spell Sanders to prevent him from further injury. Scott filled in for Sanders last season when he was injured, and Clement has been more of the third down back when given opportunities.

Eagles RB Miles Sanders practiced in a limited capacity on Wednesday as he returns from a hamstring injury.

Sanders is fully expected to be active for Week 1 but reports today suggest he could have his workload managed early in the year due to missed practice time. In any event, seeing Sanders on the practice field at all is a positive sign and he should be ready to assume his role as lead back for the Eagles in Week 1 against Washington.

Zach Berman of The Athletic reports that Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson is open to the possibility of managing Miles Sanders's workload early in the season due to missed practice time.

Sanders is a tantalizing fantasy prospect this season due to the potential he showed as a rookie and the Eagles' continued insistence that he will operate as a bellcow in 2020. A mid-camp hamstring injury has thrown a wrench in those plans, and Pederson appears intent on monitoring how Sanders handles a full week of practice before committing to him as a workhorse for Week 1 against Washington. It will be worth monitoring the Eagles practice reports throughout the rest of the week to gauge Sanders's workload.

The Eagles must have liked Jason Huntley in the pre-draft process.

Per the league’s transaction wire, they claimed the rookie running back off waivers from Detroit.

Huntley was the Lions’ fifth-round pick out of New Mexico State, but was waived as they got to 53 (and then signed veteran running back Adrian Peterson). Huntley had no preseason tape to show teams, but ran for 1,090 yards last year, averaging 7.1 yards per carry. It could be something to pay attention to since the Eagles only have Sanders, Scott and Clement on the roster. Scott and Clement are mainly considered pass-catching backs.

Geoff Mosher: “We’ve said for a while he’s gonna be out with a lower-body injury and it’s not that bad. What I’m told was it’s a hamstring injury that he’s got. It’s not the least mild one, but also not the most severe.”

Adam Caplan: “I’m told he’s got a hamstring strain. I noticed he was doing a shadow drill [Sunday], which is when you’re mimicking what you’re going to be doing … just doing shadow pass blocking. Well guess what? If he’s got a bad injury, he ain’t doing that.”

The good news here is Sanders' injury doesn't seem to be serious and one would think he'll be good for Week 1. With only Boston Scott and Corey Clement behind Sanders, and a banged up group of WRs right now, this is a situation to keep an eye on as we get closer to Week 1. TEs Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert could benefit the most.

Garafolo added that he does not sense any "great concern" that Sanders will be out an extended period, so hopefully this is just a precautionary or maintenance issue. Sanders has been hyped as the workhorse in Philadelphia all offseason so an extended absence would alter the fantasy landscape. Boston Scott is slated to take over starting duties with Sanders sitting out.

Imagine Miles Sanders becoming an even better receiver? A more versatile receiver? A more explosive receiver?

That's the plan.

Doug Pederson said Monday he envisions Sanders expanding his role in the passing game, adding different routes to his repertoire and lining up more in the slot or out wide.

Sanders caught 50 passes for 509 yards last year, both more than any Eagles wide receiver. He became only the 15th rookie running back in NFL history with at least 50 catches and 500 yards. The story said Sanders could lineup more on the outside, which means Clement or Scott could be in the backfield, and both are also considered receiving backs.
