Pack's Jackson familiar with starting RB role

Brandon Jackson will take over the starting role, fullback John Kuhn will be the backup/third-down back, and newly signed Dimitri Nance will be buried in the playbook trying to get up to speed.

Jackson is actually stepping back into the starter's role. Jackson started the first three games of the 2007 season after being a second-round pick, but a shin injury kept him sidelined for four games.

That's when Grant played Lou Gehrig to Jackson's Wally Pipp for the next 38 games until Grant tore a ligament in his right ankle against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

"After that injury like that, I thought I was going to come back and still have my job, but obviously it doesn't work that way," said Jackson, who has carried 175 times for 689 yards (3.9 average) in his career. "Grant took over at the time and I just had to sit back. Now I have the opportunity and I will seize the moment."
